Never pretend that the things you haven’t got are not worth having.

My eye caught a dark form lying on the river bottom. It took me a few moments to comprehend what I had stumbled upon. Lying peacefully in the shallow waters of the river, only a few meters from shore, was a full-grown cougar. The contrast between the serenity of the scene I was witnessing and what must have played out here in the cougar’s final moments made me shiver. It was the first shiver of many, as I stripped down and waded out into the icy water to get this shot. x

At the Right Place, At the Right Time
I always find it funny when people say that I’m only successful because I was “lucky to be at the right place at the right time.” Well, yea… but so were billions of other people. We were all here and given the chance to become coders and design iPhone apps. Nobody gave me special permission to do so. And nobody stopped anyone from being an app developer. There are thousands of app developers out there besides me.
It wasn’t some privileged knowledge that only a few people were allowed to know. I didn’t even go to school to learn to be an app developer. I just made the decision to take a large portion of my free time to learn it instead of watching TV or playing video games and what not. And I learned all of it for free online and through self-discovery.
The truth is, the opportunities to achieve greatness are out there and still available. Just open your eyes and look for them. Figure out what are scams and what are genuine business opportunities. I didn’t sit around waiting for someone to give me a handout to save me from my miserable life. I said, “Screw it. If I want things to change in my life, then I’m going to work my ass off to change it.”
When I see people with lean, muscular bodies, I don’t think, “Damn, that person was lucky to be at the right place at the right time.” Nope, that’s the lazy/jealous way of thinking. Instead I think, “Wow, that person really worked hard and made sacrifices to get that physique.” That’s the same mentality I have when I see hard working, successful people.
So don’t get jealous at me for what I have and leaving comments calling me a “fag” or “chink”. That’s a waste of everyone’s time and energy. Instead, channel that envy into motivation. Learn from me, and become better than me. I’ve laid out way more advice and resources than what I was given when I first started. Take advantage of it. It’s all freely available on my Facebook or Tumblr.
Don’t just wait for good things to happen to you. Make them happen to you.
